5 Facts 3 Questions
The
Facts:
1) Your
body has a built in natural power to regulate,
adapt and heal itself.
Easy
example...Remember that nasty paper cut you had a week ago? Yes, it's
gone and as my 21 year old once pointed out, your hand sanitizer will
remind you when you have a new one! But no worries, that will be gone
in a week too.
2) Your body is physically and functionally interconnected from head to toe, inside and out. Your body works as a functional unit. That's why when visiting a specific type of Manual Therapist, say for foot or knee pain...you will tend to feel relief after treatment to the hip and shin as well as receiving treatment known as visceral work. You will likely also notice that they may spend a time treating the side opposite of your pain.
3) Regardless of what your daily life brings, your system will adapt and give you its best possible solution toward wellness.
4) Your body is constantly talking to you. Pain, fatigue, foggy mind, irritability etc... These are typical signals that your system is struggling to compensate for the accumulation of injuries, strains and stresses you've experienced and it's running out of solutions!
5) Physically, nutritionally, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, your health is a manifestation of accumulated life events and daily life choices.
6) You are in control of your daily life choices, even though some days it feels as though you are not! Each choice contributes to strengthening or straining your body's natural ability to heal and adapt.

The
Questions:
1)
What have I done over the past week to support health and well being in my body,
mind, spirit, emotions?
2)
What have I done over the past week to manage stress?
**A
significant and growing body of research evidence supports the
powerful influence our thoughts and beliefs have in our overall state
of health & ability to fight illness**
3) What 1 thing could I do right now to calm my mind, my heart or support my health?(take 5 minutes to just breath in & out; go outside and take a lap around the building breath in deeply all of that fresh air; stand up and stretch my arms way up over my head and take 3 deep breaths).
Don't stress out over these questions (that wouldn't be very useful
now would it!). Just ponder where you are in the building and
supporting of your self healthcare habits. Just pick 1 positive action to add to your day (rather than focusing on cutting out something you perceive as negative) then get on with your day.
**I suggest people start by focusing on ADDING positive actions rather than looking to cut out something they may perceive as negative. Repeated over time, the practice of noticing what you are doing right builds your minds awareness of what's going well! Repeated over time, the practice of flogging yourself for the negative habits you observe, only builds your minds awareness of what's NOT going well.
