Alzheimer's Medical Cannabis treatment (CBD)

My first patient on my first internship was an elderly gentleman with severe Alzheimers. He could not speak, he had lost the brain functions necessary to formulate even the simplest of words. He was unable to purposefully use his arms and legs which resulted in an inability to move with intention to independently dress, self-feed, walk, sit on the edge of the bed etc... I met that man over 30 years ago and I've never forgotten the brutality of this disease.

My dad is confirmed to have these plaques. So I'm doing what I do...research and collect information for my mom to use in order to help her to help him maintain the highest level of function and comfort possible.
What I know now that I didn't know then is there are non-invasive/nontoxic treatments that have been shown to slow the progression of this disease and improve brain/cognitive function. Cannabis research has shown that both CBD and THC components of the plant can block of the laying down and clumping up of the amyloid plaques responsible for Alzheimer's. Amyloid plaques disrupt the function of and communication between neurons in the brain, eventually causing the manifestation of symptoms known as Alzheimer's.

This is tough to watch...at first. Stick with it to the end. It's short. It's worth it.
