Food for thought...

Food has the power to heal. More important, it has the power to kill. If our (US) government really had an interest in curing disease, I would think they would begin by overhauling what they are doing to our food supply. I can't help but notice that the food that is most affordable is the very source of so much of the disease in our culture. The latest was the head line that high fructose corn syrup "may be" contributing to the obesity problem...REALLY...really!?

How about a wild new paradigm for healthcare. One that begins not with a suggested new prescription, but rather recommendations that reflects a return to the roots of true medicine? Hippocrates said that our food is our medicine and our medicine is food. Wouldn’t it be wild to have the Dr. hand you a script for juicing dark green veggies with granny smith apples and fresh ginger root 1-2 times daily for 2 weeks!? Does that sound weird or extreme? Maybe, but Hippocrates also said: “extreme remedies are very appropriate for extreme diseases.” Is the epidemic of illness and disease not extreme enough in our culture yet? Are the diseases that our children are now fighting not extreme enough yet?

With the mantra of TRUE healthcare starts with SELF-care in mind, these are a few thought provoking documentaries I’ve found on Netflix.

I'm just thinking out loud... We can all reform our own personal "healthcare system" by remembering that when we take care of ourselves by feeding body, mind, spirit and community connections, we strengthen our health! Now...go grab some Kale and give a hug to someone needing a lift, if you need a lift then share your need and get yourself a hug! :-)

Peace and strong health to your day!
